Daisy Chain

I've always thought it would be cool to make a daisy chain. So one day I tried it, and I found (to my surprise) that it actually worked!

I braided the pliable stems of the daisies, and added new ones every other twist or so.

Join them together, and you have a crown.

I had great fun modeling with it out in the woods, like some woodland fairy.

Ever tried to make a daisy chain (or crown)?

For more daisy chain pictures, check out this post on my main blog.

Just a tad whimsical

Ever wanted to be a princess in a forest?

I did.

Linking up to i heart faces' challenge this week: A touch of Whimsy

Cheerful Like Yellow

Yellow is such a cheerful color. :)

Yellow seems to be my new color this year - I had hardly any of it in my wardrobe last year, and yet this spring I've been attracted to it a lot.

When our forsythia bush was in bloom, I had the bright idea to make a crown out of its branches and pretend I was a woodland elf.

Even our cat looks good in yellow, don't you think?

What's a cheerful color for you?

Cheerful like Yellow - sneak peak

Here's a sneak peak of a photo shoot I did the other day with a crown I had woven out of forsythia branches. This is for i heart face's challenge this week - Bright and Vivid! Go over to their website to see other awesome entries. :)

Best face forward

So, there's a photo contest at "life is too short not to wear red shoes," and it's just too good to pass up. The theme is portraits. I don't do many of these, but I would love to do them more often. Below are my two favorites!

There once was a girl...

...who had a little curl

Right in the middle of her forehead.

When she was good, she was very, very good.

But when she was bad...

She was horrid.

New Things

There's been a lot of changes around here recently. Notice anything different about the blog? Yep, that's right, the makeover is complete!I think Olive Tree did a great job - I love the color scheme especially. :) It matches perfectly with the pictures in the header (which is pretty awesome, don't you think?)

Another new thing is that I finally got my camera! Obviously, from the second I opened it, it was picture-taking time. I ran the battery out in the first two days because I was just so excited to have a camera in my hands again!

Here are a few pictures (don't worry, I'll have more up soon!):

Of course, the first picture I took was a self-portrait. ;)

See the reflection of the camera?

Trying out macro

I'll be experimenting with the new watermark... so bear with me! :D

Also, I've added a subscribe link on the bottom - both for subscribing through email, and for subscribing through a reader. If you're a casual looker, or a facebook stalker (lol), I would love if you subscribed!

So, what do you think of all this "newness"? ;)

This is What Inspires Me

Olive Tree is having a photography contest with the theme of inspiration. Here are my two entries:

This picture inspires me because it reminds me of God's care for us. The care with which my brother is holding the little bird, the trust in the bird's eye... this is a perfect example of God's care for me. I know I need not fear, since my life is held secure in God's hands. He's always got me, even when I want to struggle and try to fly on my own. I just have to trust Him.

I love this picture. It reminds me of the verse from Hebrews "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2)

This is my inspiration. As long as I fix my eyes on Jesus, I am inspired beyond belief. Even if all the rest of my life is painted in shades of gray, fixing my eyes on Jesus gives everything new life and color.

Me and My Kitty

It's been beautiful outside these past few weeks. Summer has finally hit, and the sunshine is wonderful. :)

My brother and I were outside, taking pictures for my post on my main blog Vividry, and surprisingly, there were a number of good ones. I don't take any credit for these pictures - all credit goes to him. (I did put my watermark on them, just so no one will steal them.) He is a surprisingly good photographer, and a wonderful brother. :) So here the pictures are, for your enjoyment!

All credit for these images goes to my brother, "Eagle", and were taken by him with his camera.

Interesting angle on this one... but I think I like it. :)

Isn't my brother creative?

Siblings really are a gift from the Lord, and I am so glad I have such a sweet and creative brother. Doesn't he take wonderful pictures?

A Photographer without a Camera

Yes, sadly enough, I am currently a photographer without a camera.

My camera's screen broke, and though it still will turn on and "take" pictures, they're all fuzzy and blurry (and of course, I couldn't see through the screen to know if I was taking a good one or not). And I'm pretty sure it would cost just as much to fix the screen as it would to buy a new camera.

*Tear*

I took a walk today, and it was so hard to stare at everything and think, "That would be such a good picture!" but not be able to do anything about it. I got a dozen red roses for my piano recital the other day... and I'm unable to take a picture of a single one of them. There's beauty all around me, and I'm unable to capture any of it!

I'll just have to get a new camera - and get it soon!

I still do have some pictures that I've taken, so I will be posting a few more posts with pictures from that other camera. So don't despair! :D

Unplanned

I don't usually plan my photos. Usually, I'll just notice something and think "wow, that would be a great photo!" If I have my camera with me (which I try to keep on me at all times), I'll take a few pictures. No matter what I was currently doing. It makes for some amazing pictures!

Ever thought of taking pictures of wet hair?

It was hard to catch pictures of the water drops.

And of course, I'd have to take pictures of my hair once it was dry as well.

So what do you think? Are unplanned pictures better, or do you like to plan your pictures?
