Puppy

Well, while at college this year I haven't been taking as many pictures because I've couped myself up in the practice rooms a whole lot. But, when I went home for fall break, I couldn't help but take pictures of our puppy.

Remember this cute little girl?

She's gotten really big.

She and I had a lot of fun together.

And I love her to death

Aren't puppies so much fun?

Fabulous Nails

I have a friend who loves painting nails. She's pretty awesome at it.

I've never really gotten into nail polish since I have to keep my nails short and clean for playing piano. But my friend has given me a number of fun "manicures" which I've loved.

She's given me strawberry nails:

(these pics were taken after most of the nail polish had rubbed off)

Silver sparkles:

Pink roses:

And even blue roses:

Do you like painting nails?

Name that flower

I think I'm a compulsive flower photographer.

When I see a flower I haven't taken a picture of before (or even one I have!) I whip out the camera to find the perfect angle on it.

Does anyone know what kind of flower these are? I found a pot of them in my Granny's garden, and they are simply gorgeous! Any guesses?

What about these flowers?

Can you guess from the silhouette?

I think it's amazing how many different kinds of flowers God has made.

Granny's Garden

My Granny's garden is one of the most beautiful ones I have encountered.

She has beautiful lupine flowers:

The pods of the lupine flowers, like furry gloved fingers:
Not sure what these are, but they're also gorgeous (and very photogenic!)

Whose garden do you admire?

This little light

A couple of weeks ago, our power went out for about two days. We lit candles, and naturally, I took pictures.

There's something so warm and inviting about a candle. So homey and cozy and yet somehow picturesque.

Candles always remind me of the verses in Matthew 5:
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. {Matthew 5:14-16}

Oh that I would always be a bright light, shining for Him!

Daisy Chain

I've always thought it would be cool to make a daisy chain. So one day I tried it, and I found (to my surprise) that it actually worked!

I braided the pliable stems of the daisies, and added new ones every other twist or so.

Join them together, and you have a crown.

I had great fun modeling with it out in the woods, like some woodland fairy.

Ever tried to make a daisy chain (or crown)?

Roses are Red...

...violets are blue,

But I like roses better

What about you?

In the garden

There is so much beauty in the summertime.

The gardens are full of it:

Flowers like white cups of sunshine:

Purple bachelor buttons, full of character and a delicate beauty all their own:

(I'm not sure if anything is in focus here, but somehow I still really like this photo)

Chives with purple flowers like crinkly pom-poms:

And the catalpa tree, holding forth its flowers like clumps of fringed pearls:

Where do you see beauty?
