This little light

A couple of weeks ago, our power went out for about two days. We lit candles, and naturally, I took pictures.

There's something so warm and inviting about a candle. So homey and cozy and yet somehow picturesque.

Candles always remind me of the verses in Matthew 5:
You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, so they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. {Matthew 5:14-16}

Oh that I would always be a bright light, shining for Him!

Just Like a Writer

I've been writing a lot recently, and one day when I had writer's block I took out my camera and started taking pictures of my work. And I was actually pretty pleased with the results!

These pictures are of my allegory. Can you figure out what it's about?

My favorite means of writing: paper and pencil.

My faithful hands that work so diligently without complaining (too much).

I kind of like this one in sepia. What do you think?

Newness!

Well, a number of things are new around here. First of all, I changed the layout and colors of this blog. What do you think? Do you like it? I'm not that big of a fan of black, and I think brown feels more "homey" to me.

Also, I figured out how to have larger pictures on here! Now you can really see all the detail in those beautiful flowers. ;)

And last, but not least, I sometimes find newness just in the everyday things around me.
